New Work

My work is highly process based. I melt geometric aluminum stock using gravity to assist in the formation of the final form. The result is a tension-filled form, in transition between liquid and solid states. The skin of the form shows cracking and discoloration as the pure aluminum beneath the surface cracks through the skin of impurities. I associate the finished forms, or melts, with negative emotions. In this new series I combine these melts with the historic and contemporary format of the slave collar. The addition of the material process draws attention to the emotional and psychological prison that these negative emotions can have on someone.
